Monday morning meanderings. Vol.14

The weather continues to be beautiful here in Oklahoma.  I follow the weather back in Washington and it doesn’t look that great.  Watched the Husky game on TV Saturday afternoon and saw the rain and people dressed in coats and was thankful for the warm sunshine here in Oklahoma.

Item oneA. Today is our friend/son Kasey’s 30th birthday.  Happy Day, Kase!

Item one. Speaking of weather.  The other night the wind started to really blow and then there were these loud pops, like gunfire hitting the trailer, once or twice, then two in a row and I realized it was hail.  I have experienced hail in Washington but it is never bigger than a Cheerio but when I went outside to see these stones they were the about the size of a quarter in circumference and maybe 3/4 of an inch “tall”.  Not sure how to describe hail but hopefully you get the picture.  I was ready to pull in the slides and put the truck in the barn when it stopped. I couldn’t find any damage anywhere but if it had continued there would have been some. The weather here seems to be better in many ways than it is in the NW but when it comes it feels more intense.

Item two.  There are a number of blogs that I read fairly often and this is one I like because of the blogger’s honesty.  In his most recent post he has the best collection of the “Greatest Philosophical Questions of all time,” I have seen.  When you take a look you will know what I mean.  A little humor for your Monday.  Find it here.  You have to love the title of Scott’s blog: diagonally parked in a parallel universe.  At least I like it.

Item three. The Christian FM station in Elk City (10 miles east) has an every weekday morning program called “Hour of Power”.  They invite churches to take a week, or a day or two and visit with the host for an hour about what the Father is saying to you, what is happening in your walk and they play a little music.  People call in with prayer requests and as a guest you get to pray for the needs people have.  One of the pastors and I were on last Thursday and it was really fun.  All the guests that week were from Trinity and I am pretty sure, with the exception of Pastor Buddy who went with me, we had all moved to Western Oklahoma to be at Trinity.  The host of the show, whose real name is Misty Music (I didn’t believe it either), was amazed that we would all leave such “beautiful places” to come to Western OK.  On the face of it, it makes no sense but we are all here because the Spirit led us here and so we are together discovering what He has in mind.

Item four. After several weeks of not having cell service because our service provider does not provide here in Western OK, we went to the City (OK City) and got new phones on Saturday.  We can now send/receive and we think the phones will work well in the other locations where we expect to be.  Alltel is the provider if you are interested.

Item five. Prayer for the week. O Lord, mercifully receive the prayers of your servant who calls upon you, and grant that I may know and understand what things I ought to do, and that I also may have the grace and power faithfully to accomplish them, through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. (source here)

Item five. Found this on another site I frequent and thought it was pretty funny, but full of truth.  I grow weary of the need many have to defend their doctrine but more to the point to rip other people’s.  Not sure how we got so insecure about our own faith that to defend it we have to kick what other people believe.  Does that help at all?  If you don’t believe it or agree with it, don’t follow it and live with passion what you believe.

Anyway, I like the little cartoon.  I found it here.  You must read the comments posted with this cartoon.  They are priceless.

Have a great week!
